U3A walking tour: 'Cambridge sport in Fenner's Hands'.

Today I led my U3A group on a walking tour visiting the Colleges in the centre of Cambridge mostly focusing on the 19th century when for example, students were responsible for creating the rules for football and boxing, the 'brains' behind them being students at Trinity College ( - see photo).

Today's tour, lasting 1.5 hours was the 3rd of 5 sessions which are taking place every Wednesday during this Winter term. The content follows the walking tour outlined as chapters in my book 'Cambridge sport - in Fenner's hands' which whilst it focuses on my relative, Frank Fenner (much more than the creator of the cricket ground named after him), it explores the extraordinary sporting achievements taking place around him at the time.
