‘Footnotes: The writing of football’ is a new project resulting out of a partnership between Cambridge United FC and the University of Cambridge – bringing four speakers to the city in early 2025 to explore, examine and dissect the writing behind the beautiful game.

The first session was delivered on 24th January by Adam Hurrey (author, and host of the acclaimed Football Cliches podcast) who discussed the complexities of football writing in an era of oversaturation.

The next session entitled ‘Dazed and confused: an anthropologist among old firm football fans’ will be led by Joseph Webster and take place at 6pm on 11th February at the Faculty of Divinity, Sidgwick site, CB3 9DP.
